Limousine or Livery Owner

The issuance of medallions is to regulate passenger-carrying vehicles and to protect the public from unlicensed and uninsured operators. All first-time owners are fingerprinted and checked for previous criminal records. The licensing period is for one year from October 1st through September 30th. Limousines and Private Livery Vans are charged a $ 50 filing fee. Once approved by the Town of Hempstead Building Department, there is a $100 fee per vehicle. Town of Hempstead license inspectors and the Nassau County Police Department enforce these regulations. Violations call for the issuance of an appearance ticket returnable in the Second District Court.

The completed application must be signed, notarized, and submitted with vehicle registrations, proof of worker's compensation and disability coverage, certificate of insurance naming the Town of Hempstead as a certificate holder, and corporate disclosure statements.

All vehicles must have a Town of Hempstead-issued vehicle identification card on display at all times.
