Please note that all marriage records are filed in the jurisdiction in which the marriage license was issued, not where the ceremony was held.
A certified "Transcript of Marriage" can be obtained by applying in person, or by mailing or faxing a request to the Town Clerk's Office. Please indicate the names of each spouse prior to marriage, along with the date of marriage. Please make sure to include each of the following:
Your return address
A copy of your photo identification
A fee of $10 per copy requested
Payment may be made in cash, money order, or personal check (drawn from a bank branch located within Nassau County). Checks or money orders should be made payable to Hempstead Town Clerk. If you wish to pay by credit card, the fee is $16 per transcript ($10 transcript fee plus $6 credit card processing fee). Marriage Transcript Request forms may be faxed to 516-414-6537. Please fax along with a copy of your driver's license and credit card information.
