Dog Parks

With more than 1,400 acres of land spread across 90 parks in America's largest township, residents have plenty of places to enjoy nature, partake in recreational activities or simply get some rest and relaxation. At the same, the Town of Hempstead did not forget about our four-legged friends, who enjoy "going to the park" just as much, if not more, than their human counterparts.

Local dog owners are encouraged to visit one of eight top-notch dog parks located throughout the Town of Hempstead. These canine-friendly facilities boast plenty of space for pups to run and play with other dogs, while in an enclosed environment. What's more, all parks have separate sections for small and large dogs.

The First Town-Operated Dog Park

The first town-operated dog park at Newbridge Road Park in Bellmore was opened in 2016. The 14,025 square-foot facility, open only to town residents, features a paw-friendly synthetic turf surface, ramps, hurdles, and other engaging equipment.
